About the Artist
Leslie is a professional artist from Colorado. She is best known for her captivating pastel drawings that capture light and reflection with delicious drama and an occasional uninvited guest. Her award-winning pieces have captured the eyes of art lovers at the local, regional, and national level.
Leslie attended Lamar High School and initially started out as an acrylic painter. Her subject matter included figure drawing, still life, abstract and birds. She won several poster contest drawings for the Rocky Mountain Children’s Book Festival and also competed in the Junior Federal Duck Stamp Competition.
She graduated from Pueblo Community College with a degree in fine art. It was there that her passion for pastel began as she discovered the medium’s ability to create realistic skin texture for portrait and figure drawing. Her pastel drawings have been shown and sold in California, Massachusetts, Wyoming, Texas, Colorado, and Kansas. Awards and recognitions have included Best of Show and Peoples’ Choice. Her work has also been accepted into the Pastel 100 Competition featured in Pastel Journal.
She is a member of the Pastel Society of America, The Pastel Society of the West Coast, The Colorado Pastel Society, and a Signature Member of the Pikes Peak Pastel Society.
Leslie spent many years creating commissioned art pieces and murals. She now focuses on waterfowl paintings and pastel pieces of her own originality.
